Boswells Lodge 7759

Consecrated in 1961

Our Worshipful Master welcomes you to the web site of Boswells Lodge.

Boswells Lodge is a Freemasons Lodge within the Province of Essex.

Boswells Lodge meets on the fouth Saturday of: September (Installation meeting), October, November, January (Burns Night), February, March and April, at Freemasons Hall, Rainsford Road, Chelmsford CM1 2PZ. We dine on three meetings: September, January and April. Click on Contact Us for more details.

On these pages you will find information about Freemasonry in general and this Lodge in particular. For too long we have been regarded by the world at large as a secret society of some sort and this site has been created in such a way as to be open and visible to the world.

Boswells Lodge is a Lodge warranted by the United Grand Lodge of England.

Since it's founding Boswells Lodge has raised many thousands of pounds for charitable causes, both Masonic and non-Masonic.

On any Masonic site you will see pages about charity and indeed it is a cornerstone of our order.

Is Freemasonry a secret society?

Far from being any kind of secret society our accounts are published and anyone examining them may be surprised to discover that the money distributed to charity by Freemasons in the UK comes second only to the National Lottery.

Sometimes we are asked who can be a Freemason?  Do you need to be a professional or successful in your career? The answer in each case being no. With an estimated membership of five million Freemasons worldwide we have members across the whole spectrum.

Apart from the fact that you must be at least twenty one years of age there is only one absolute requirement to becoming a Freemason and that is a belief in a supreme being. It matters not one bit what you might call this supreme being and we take pride in the fact that at any Masonic meeting you are likely to find a wide range of religions represented.

If you are already a Freemason you will know that there really is no financial advantage to you in business from being a Mason but if you would like to do something essentially good and spend some of your time helping others less fortunate than yourself, then perhaps you should consider becoming a Freemason yourself.

You can learn more by clicking this link which will automatically create an e-mail to the Secretary of Boswells Lodge Lodge who will furnish you with more information. Tell me more about becoming a a Freemason
